Comparison

CueCut vs OpusClip
for DJ sets.

OpusClip is a general-purpose AI clipper for podcasts, interviews, gaming, sports, vlogs and more, with AI captions on every plan and an editor and auto-posting on paid plans. CueCut is built only for DJ sets: it listens to the music to find the drops, builds and mixes, and its camera follows the DJ in a vertical 9:16 frame. Pick OpusClip if you need captions, editing, or clips from other kinds of video. Pick CueCut if you want finished vertical clips of the drops, builds and mixes in a set recording, with no editing to do.

How they compare on a DJ set

OpusClip details come from OpusClip's own website and help centre, checked on 19 October 2026; the pages are listed at the bottom. Prices are as listed on that date, in the currency each company shows.

Built forDJ set recordings only. It is not built for podcasts, talks, interviews or gaming. Most kinds of video. Its reframing page shows interviews, podcasts, gaming, webinars, sports and vlogs, and it says its ClipAnything model can clip vlogs, sports, TV shows, news, music and videos with little or no dialogue.
How it picks momentsIt listens to the music to find the drops, builds and mixes. On 'Just the DJ' sets you can also type your own rough timestamps and it snaps each one to the nearest musical moment.AI clipping that OpusClip says uses 'visual, audio, and sentiment cues', and that you can steer with a plain-English prompt. Paid plans rank clips with a Virality Score from 0 to 99.
Camera and framingAn AI camera follows the DJ inside a vertical 9:16 frame. If nobody can be followed in a clip, that clip falls back to a still, centred crop. 9:16 only.Auto reframe on every plan. Automatic tracking 'prioritizes speakers'; you can pick another subject by hand, scene by scene, in the editor (the Free plan has no editing). Moving-object tracking, and 1:1 and 16:9 shapes, are on Pro and Business. Free and Starter are 9:16 only.
Captions and editingNone. No captions, no text of your own and no editor. You choose the number of clips, their length and any timestamps before the run, then preview and download.AI captions on every plan. A text and timeline editor from Starter up; the Free plan has 'No editing'. Starter includes a little AI image and stock B-roll (3 clips a month of each); Pro allows much more, and adds export to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
Clips you getUp to 3 per set on Free; 3, 6 or 9 on Premium. Each clip is 10 to 90 seconds long (you choose). If a set has few strong moments, you get fewer clips rather than filler.Lots. OpusClip says a 60 to 120 minute video usually gives 32 to 42 clips. Clip length is 'Auto (0m-3m)' by default, with ranges up to 10 to 15 minutes.
What you give itA video file (MP4, MOV or MKV), or a public Dropbox or Google Drive link to one. Not audio-only files, and not YouTube, TikTok or OneDrive links. Sets up to 3 hours on Free, 6 hours on Premium.A local upload, or a link from YouTube and many other services, depending on plan. Videos up to 10 hours.
How use is counted1 credit per set, however long the set is, within your plan's length limit.1 credit per minute of the original video, whatever you keep, so a 2-hour set uses 120 credits. You can process just part of a video to use fewer.
Free plan2 free sets, once per account (not monthly): up to 3 clips per set, 720p, with a CueCut.ai badge. Plus 3 free samples that each make 1 clip from a 10-minute stretch of a set. No card needed.Free forever: 60 credits a month, watermarked, no editing, and clips can be exported for 3 days. New users also get a 7-day Pro trial with 90 credits and no card needed.

Where OpusClip fits

Choose OpusClip if...

  • You need captions. OpusClip adds AI captions on every plan; CueCut adds none.
  • You want to edit clips after they are made. OpusClip has a text and timeline editor on paid plans.
  • Your videos are not only DJ sets: podcasts, interviews, gaming, sports or vlogs.
  • You want a lot of clips from one video, longer clips, or square and landscape versions (1:1 and 16:9 on Pro).
  • You want to post or schedule straight to TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram.
  • You want a free allowance every month. OpusClip's free plan gives 60 credits a month, with a watermark; CueCut's 2 free sets are once per account.
  • You want to clip from a YouTube link, or work in a phone app.
Where CueCut fits

Choose CueCut if...

  • You want a tool built only for DJ sets, which picks drops, builds and mixes from the audio.
  • You want an AI camera that is set up to follow the DJ inside the vertical frame.
  • You want finished clips with nothing to edit: pick how many and how long, then download.
  • You already know your best moments. On 'Just the DJ' sets, type rough timestamps and CueCut snaps them to the nearest musical moment.
  • You would rather pay per set than per minute. One credit clips one set, however long, within your plan's limit.
  • You want to test it on part of a set first. A free sample makes 1 clip from a 10-minute stretch in about 15 minutes.
Field notes

What CueCut does not do

  • It needs the video of the set. An MP3 or WAV on its own will not work.
  • No captions, no text of your own on screen, and no editor. Nothing can be changed after the run.
  • Vertical 9:16 only, at up to 1080×1920 on Premium. No square, landscape or 4K versions.
  • Up to 9 clips per set on Premium and 3 on Free, each 10 to 90 seconds long.
  • No YouTube, TikTok or OneDrive links. Upload the file, or paste a public Dropbox or Google Drive link.
  • It is not instant. A 50 minute set making 9 clips typically takes about 30 to 40 minutes once uploaded, and you get an email when the clips are ready.
  • The camera cannot always find someone to follow. When it cannot, that clip uses a still, centred crop.
  • It does not post for you yet. You download the clips and post them yourself.
The fair test

Try both on the same set

The only comparison that settles it is your own footage. OpusClip's free plan gives 60 credits a month, and new users get a 7-day Pro trial with 90 credits. At 1 credit per minute, you may need to process just part of a long set. CueCut gives you 2 free sets, once per account, and 3 free one-clip samples.

Run the same set through both and keep whichever clips you would actually post.

Is there an OpusClip alternative built for DJ sets?

Yes. CueCut is built only for DJ sets: if the video is a DJ set and you want clips of the musical moments, it finds the drops, builds and mixes from the audio, and its camera follows the DJ in a vertical frame. It does not add captions or let you edit clips afterwards, so if you need those, OpusClip is the better fit. Both have a free way to try, so the fairest test is to run the same set through each.

Can OpusClip find the drop in a DJ set?

The OpusClip pages we checked on 19 October 2026 do not mention DJ sets, or musical drops and builds. OpusClip says its ClipAnything model uses 'visual, audio, and sentiment cues', understands sounds including cheering and music, and can be steered with a plain-English prompt; its own music example is 'Find me the hook and chorus'. We found no DJ-set examples on those pages, so the reliable answer is to try it on yours.

How does CueCut find the moments in a set?

It listens to the set's audio to find the drops, builds and mixes worth clipping. On 'Just the DJ' sets you can also type rough timestamps: CueCut snaps each one to the nearest musical moment within 20 seconds, or starts exactly on your time if you tick Exact. If a set has few strong moments, it returns fewer clips rather than padding with weak ones.

Is CueCut free?

You can start free. You get 2 free sets, once per account rather than every month, with up to 3 clips per set at 720p and a CueCut.ai badge, plus 3 free samples that each make 1 clip from a 10-minute stretch of a set. No card is needed. Premium is £11.99 a month for 15 sets, with up to 9 clips per set at 1080p and no badge (price checked 19 October 2026).

Does CueCut add captions?

No. CueCut does not add captions, subtitles or text of your own (the only text it adds is the CueCut.ai badge on Free clips), and there is no editor for changing a clip after the run. You choose the number of clips, their length and any timestamps before you start; afterwards you preview and download. If you want captions, add them in your own editor before posting, or use a clipper with captions built in, such as OpusClip.

Can I give CueCut an MP3 or a YouTube link?

No. CueCut needs the video of the set: an MP4, MOV or MKV file, or a public Dropbox or Google Drive link to the file. It takes the audio from the video, so there is nothing separate to upload. Audio-only files and YouTube, TikTok or OneDrive links are not accepted. OpusClip does import from YouTube and many other services.
